Pharmacies achieving this accredited level have become widely established in many areas of the country. They improve the quality and effectiveness of community pharmacy services and enable better and more convenient access to health and wellbeing services in their locality.
Healthy Living Pharmacies have a proactive Health Promotion ethos instilled by the training required to be accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH). The pharmacy team are informed and aware of all the services that they offer and are able to provide effective advice and support to patients, accurately signposting and referring to other health or social care providers when the need arises.
In a Healthy Living Pharmacy the whole team works together to deliver important health messages and advice as part of their normal day-to-day activity. The focus of these messages benefits patients and the public; who are at the centre of all that is offered at the pharmacy. Each Healthy Living Pharmacy has a Health Promotion Zone which reflects the identified needs of their locality and is maintained by a nominated Healthy Living Champion.
The pharmacies achieving this standard can display a quality mark of excellence in their window that gives members of the public the assurance that anyone accessing that pharmacy will enjoy high standards of service and care.
